Pre-Diwali Apple Device Service Checklist 2026: 5 Things to Fix Before the Festive Season

By Shrey Sharma, Founder & Lead Technician · March 2026
Diwali means travel, late nights, photography, and heavy device use. If your MacBook battery is weak or your iPhone screen is cracked, October is the right time to fix it — before the season starts, not during.

Diwali in Mumbai means heavy device use — photography and videos of celebrations, travel to family across the city, late-night calls and video chats, and often working from home when offices close. It's also when device failures hurt the most. If something has been 'almost working' since July, it will almost certainly fail in October. Here's the 5-point checklist we recommend before the festive season.
1. Battery Health — The Most Important Check
For MacBook: Check battery health in System Information → Power (or Apple menu → About This Mac → More Info → Battery). If health is below 80%, you will struggle to get through a day of celebration photography and video calls without being tethered to a charger. MacBook battery replacement takes 2–4 hours. Cost: ₹4,500–₹8,000.
For iPhone: Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Below 80% means Apple has already engaged performance throttling. Diwali photography and continuous camera use will drain a degraded battery in 3–4 hours. iPhone battery replacement takes 30–45 minutes. Cost: ₹1,500–₹3,500.
2. Screen — Fix Cracks Before They Get Worse
A small crack in October becomes a shattered screen in November. Festive season means more drops — excited children, crowded gatherings, late nights. A pre-existing crack also lets moisture in (and Mumbai still has post-monsoon humidity in October). MacBook screen replacement: ₹8,000–₹24,000. iPhone screen replacement: ₹2,500–₹18,000 depending on model. Do it before Diwali, not after.
3. Charging Port — Because Dying at 20% During Diwali Is Painful
A USB-C port that charges intermittently or requires the cable to be held at an angle is a pre-failure port. The combination of heavy festive use, more frequent charging, and the physical stress of travel will accelerate the failure. MacBook USB-C port repair: ₹3,000–₹6,000. iPhone charging port: ₹1,500–₹3,000. Quick fix, high impact on festive-season reliability.
4. Keyboard and Trackpad — If It's Glitchy, Fix It Now
If specific keys are sticking, the trackpad is unresponsive in corners, or the keyboard backlight is dead, October is the right time. Keyboard replacement for a MacBook takes 3–5 hours. Working from home during Diwali with a half-broken keyboard is avoidable.
5. Back Up Everything — Before the Season, Not After
Festive season device damage is common — drops, spills from diyas, fireworks proximity, travel accidents. Before Diwali, run a complete Time Machine backup to an external SSD and verify your iCloud photos are fully synced. If your device fails during celebrations, having a current backup is the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major disaster.
